Adamu Wins Gwagwalada Council Chair Poll

Adamu APGA

Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the Chairmanship election held in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, Mustapha Adamu, has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The result was announced on Wednesday by the electoral umpire after the poll was held under peaceful atmosphere.

Declaring Adamu winner of the election, INEC’s Returning Officer for the poll, Adamu Tanimu, said APGA amassed 678 votes in the re-run poll conducted to determine the winner of the Saturday, April 9, 2016, inconclusive election.

This, according to Tanimu, gave the party total votes of 15,950 after the re-run held at Gurfata and Ibwa polling units. He said Adamu had polled 15,272 votes last Saturday.

Announcing results of other candidates in the election, Tanimu said Abubakar Giri of the All Progressives Congreess, APC, who is the incumbent chairman, garnered 23 votes in the supplementary election, bringing his total votes to 14, 569.

Abdullahi of the PDP raked 682 votes having failed to get a single vote in Wednesday’s re-run election.

After announcing the results, Tanimu declared Adamu of APGA winner of the election having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes.
