Troops Rescue 180 Boko Haram Hostages

No fewer than 180 persons held hostage by the Boko Haram terrorists group have been rescued alive by the Nigerian Army, Aproko247 has learnt.

A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman disclosed on Thursday that the hostages were freed from the insurgents’ den during military operations.

This is in continuation of the ongoing clearance operations of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists at the various sectors of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.

It was gathered that troops of 7 Division Garrison and 112 Battalion, assisted by some Civilian JTF, conducted clearing operations at Menari, Bulamari, Zangebe, Maafa, Mijigine, Baale and Kaltaram villages in Mafa Local Government Area, Borno State.

It was during the operations they killed five Boko Haram terrorists and rescued the 180 persons and their cattle held hostages by the terrorists at Giltimari and Baale.

The Nigerian Army have since launched an aggressive onslaught on the insurgents, who had before now had a field day in north east of the country.
