Senate Finally Passes 2016 Budget

The Nigerian Senate has eventually approved the 2016 budget after several weeks of postponement, Aproko247 has confirmed.

The 2016 Appropriation Bill was passed on Wednesday by the lawmakers of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Reports of the N6.07 trillion budget was supposed to be deliberated on yesterday by the Senate but it was adjourned till today because the senior legislators suspended plenary to honour a late lawmaker from Nararawa State, Musa Baba Onwana.

The Senate had expressed optimism on Tuesday that the budget would be passed before the end of the week.

The passing of the budget puts an end to weeks of postponements and alleged gimmicks by both the legislative and executive arms of government over the trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged false declaration of assets.
