Kano Emir Orders Return Of Kidnapped Bayelsa Teenager To Parents

Following public criticisms that trailed the abduction of a 14-year-old girl from Bayelsa State allegedly by a Kano-based man, the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, has ordered the girl to be returned to her parents.

The girl, Ese Oruru, was allegedly kidnapped by one Yunusa of Kura local government area of Kano State about seven months ago in Bayelsa State. The suspect was said to have taken her to Kano, where he forcefully converted the teenager to Islam and married her.

However, efforts by parents of Ese to get their daughter back were reportedly frustrated by the suspect and even the Emir was alleged to have also tried to prevent to return of the girl to her parents.

But the Emir has distanced himself and his palace from the mess, saying he has directed the state Sharia Commission to liaise with office of the Deputy Inspector General of police, Zone 1, to commence process of repatriating the 14 years old teenager.

“I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately,” the Emir of Kano said.
