A Lebanese national has been apprehended by the Nigeria Police for an alleged assault on a 13-year-old girl (name withheld).
The suspect, Marwan Callas, 37, was reportedly arrested on September 17, 2015 in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
It was said that the Police received a report that the suspect, who is also and staff of Hitech Construction Company, allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the teenager, which is against the Nigerian law.
“Victim [was] taken to hospital for medical attention, suspect has been arrested for interrogation,” a statement by the police disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Human Trafficking, Child and Women Protection Unit of State CIID Benin City is said to be investigating the matter.
