At least eight suspected pirates were arrested by officials of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in Kano State.
According to the Manager of the North West Zone of NCC, Alhaji Hassan Usman, the Commission also confiscated pirated copies of intellectual materials worth about N6million.
It was disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at various locations in the ancient city of Kano.
Meanwhile, Usman has urged Nigerians to patronise original works of intellectual materials. He further begged them to report activities of pirates to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
Usman expressed optimism that the war against piracy would be defeated by the Nigerian government.
