Former spokesperson of the Department of State Security, DSS, Marilyn Ogar, has been demoted by the newly appointed Director General of the agency, Lawal Musa Daura.
In March 2015, Ogar and some other officers of the DSS were promoted, which generated controversies in the agency and among Nigerians. She was also given a three-year leave of study to pursue a course in the UK on government’s bill.
It was learnt that Ogar and the 44 others promoted were demoted via a memo. There promotions were seen as politically motivated.
According to the DSS tradition, promotions are made at the end of the year, but not for the 45 officers that promoted in March 2015, including Ogar.
