Police Foils Attempt To Abduct Diezani’s Sibling

Police in Bayelsa State on Thursday blocked an attempt by some unknown gunmen to kidnap a brother to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, Egedegu Agamal.

The hoodlums, four in number, were on their way to Yenaka, a community the former Minister hails from, to carry out their plan when the security operatives foiled it.

The Police were aware of the plan and laid ambush on them at the Marine Police Waterside, Yenagoa, where they (gunmen) were eventually apprehended.

The suspects are Bethel Alasuo, 37, Jackson Ofolo, 28, Ezibor Ibilo, 33, and Funpere Kpou, 28.

Spokesman of the police in Bayelsa, Butswat Asinim, who confirmed the incident, said “The Police recovered, one Makarov Para Pistol, two t-shirts with the inscription ‘SECURITY’ at the back and two Bandanas that can be used as face mask.”

“The suspects have been detained in State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. Investigation is ongoing,” he further stated.
