PDP Wins Abia Guber Poll

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been announced winner of the governorship election in Abia State.

The election, which was first held on April 11, was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and a supplementary election held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the areas where the first polls were cancelled or not held.

Ikpeazu was declared winner of the election by the electoral umpire in the early hours of Sunday.

The two major contenders in the election were Ikpeazu and candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Alex Otti.

While Ikpeazu got a total of 264,713 in the total votes cast, Otti polled 180,882 votes.
