Nobody Can Impeach Me Illegally–Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has stressed that Muhammadu Buhari will not allow illegality in his government when he is eventually sworn in as President of Nigeria on May 29, 2015.

The governor expressed optimism in Buhari to respect the rule of law and not allow his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, push him to go against the laws of the land.
Fayose made this comments in reaction to the impeachment notice filed against him by the 19 APC lawmakers of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued by Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, the governor stated that it is surprising that the lawmakers, who have left their duties in the state since late 2014, would only resurface on Wednesday, after the victory of Buhari at last Saturday’s presidential poll.

“The script being acted by the APC is a failed one because no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to test the will of Ekiti people.

“The Speaker of Ekiti House of Assembly is Hon Dele Olugbemi and not Dr Adewale Omirin.

“Since last year November, these so-called lawmakers abdicated their duties and ran to Lagos only for them to resurface on Wednesday, but they hurriedly ran away again.

“Now they are posting notice of impeachment signed on March 9, 2015 and Ekiti people are asking; was the motion for impeachment moved and adopted in Lagos or Osun state house of assembly? Is impeachment of a governor done along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway inside a moving bus?

“Rather than going about advertising their ignorance and crudity, the APC lawmakers should wait for the court to adjudicate on the case they filed because even the president-elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), will respect the rule of law when he assumes office,” the statement said.
