Boko Haram Takes Over Gwoza As Army, Residents Flee

The rocky border town of Gwoza in Borno State has been taken over by members of the terrorists group called Boko Haram, Aproko247 has learnt.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the insurgents stormed the town, dislodging some military officers guarding the community, before attacking residents of the community, who later flee to safety on the mountains.

It was learnt that members of the deadly group destroyed properties in the town and also killed many during the attack that lasted hours.

The insurgents rode into Gwoza in different forms of armoured tanks and were dressed in military uniforms, we also learnt.

Aproko247 further gathered that the whereabouts of the town’s Emir, Muhammed Timta, is not yet known. It is being feared that he may have been abducted by the terrorists, who killed his father in June 2014. He (the present Emir’s dad, was the Emir of Gwoza before his assassination.

Meanwhile, a high ranking police official in the Borno Police Command, who begged not to be named, confirmed the attack.
