Derin Braithwaite Disu, the famous society lady and the Special Adviser on Central Business Districts to Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has resigned her appointment.

Sources disclosed that, although Disu had conveyed her decision to resign last May through a letter, her exit became official after one month.

Disu, who was once chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, explained that she needed to devote more time to family commitments. According to her, “I am retiring voluntarily to attend to family matters as the eldest child of the Braithwaite family,” she said.

Fashola accepted Disu’s resignation and expressed his gratitude for her immense contributions to the state through the office, which she has handled since 2011. The Lagos Central Business Districts

However, close sources disclosed that Disu’s exit from Governor Fashola’s cabinet was mired in controversy. It was gathered that the two shared what could best be described as a no-love-lost relationship.

Predictably, the icy relationship between Fashola and Disu resulted in the two of them having shouting match on regular occasions, especially during the weekly executive meetings.

Disu was reported to have complained that she was not availed with the required opportunity to flourish in her official assignment, this, she was not able to deliver maximally. Meanwhile, sources who are close to the Lagos State Governor, are quick to point out that Disu was not too keen in aligning herself with the pace at which Fashola works and expects works to be delivered.

Although, the two were able to carry on without giving room to rancour, Disu’s eventual decision to quit the cabinet, didn’t come as a shock to most close watchers within the Alausa Round House.

It was gathered that Disu’s major concern is centered on managing the vast estate and business of her father, Chief Talabi Braithwaite, the late Insurance doyen.
