The Adamawa State House of Assembly has been given the permission to proceed with its impeachment move against the state governor, Murtala Nyako.

This followed the dismissal of an application filed by the embattled governor seeking to restrain the lawmakers from going on with the action against him until the determination of the substantive suit.

Acting Chief Judge if the state, Justice Ambrose Mamadi, while ruling on Thursday at the Yola High Court on the application filed Nyako’s by counsel, Kanu Agabi, SAN, noted that the Assembly has not violated any provisions of Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

He added that the move was to pre-empt the legislators, who had 24 hours earlier instructed the acting CJ to constitute a seven-man panel to investigate the 20 charges of gross misconduct levelled against the governor and the six counts of similar charges brought against the deputy governor.
