Court Halts Impeachment Move On Nyako By Adamawa Assembly

The move to serve an impeachment notice on Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State by the state House of Assembly suffered a set back on Thursday when a High Court sitting in Yola, the state capital, barred the members of the House from carrying out the action.

The state acting Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mamadi also ordered the lawmakers to zero their intentions of impeaching the governor.

The Assembly had made a move to remove both the governor and his deputy. Before the legislators went on recess, they ordered the Clerk of the House to serve the impeachment notice on the governor.

Nyako is one of the five governors of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, that decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2013.
