Lamido Sanusi Emerges New Kano Emir

Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has been announced as the new Emir of Kano. The former Nigeria’s chief banker was, on Sunday, named as successor to late Ado Abdullahi Bayero, by the state government.

Addressing the media on Sunday at the Government House in Kano, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, said the state government chose and confirmed Sanusi as the new Emir among the three nominees sent to it by the kingmakers.

The former CBN now becomes the 57th Emir of Kano, was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan in February 2014 over alleged financial recklessness. He is the grandson of the late immediate Emir’s brother.
