NAFDAC Mourns Akunyili

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has expressed shock over the death of its former Director General, Prof Dora Akunyili, whose tenure saw the agency tirelessly fought fake drug dealers in Nigeria.

The former DG died on Saturday morning in India, where she was flown to for treatment few weeks ago.

In its message posted on its Twitter page on Saturday night, the agency said, “the Governing Council, Management n Entire Staff of NAFDAC commiserate with the Akunyili family on the painful demise of our amiable past DG.

LProfessor Dora Akunyili will always be fondly remembered at NAFDAC for her determination, focus , resilient and commitment to duty.

“We pray the Almighty God to give grant her eternal rest and give her family and the nation at large the fortitude to bear this loss.

“We at NAFDAC join all well meaning Nigerians and people of goodwill around the world to mourn you ma. Adieu for yours was a life well lived.”
