Cleric Chides FG On Prison Reformation

The Federal Government has been enjoined to address the spate of crimes, indiscipline and corruption in the country to put an end to the activities of insurgents.

This call was made recently by the Dean, School of Engineering, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Sabitu Ariyo Olagoke, who visited the inmates of the medium prison, Abolongo, Oyo State during the celebration of this year’s Shafaudeen’s Group Humanity.

While speaking with the inmates, the founder of Shafaudeen in Islam Organisation urged the inmates to put their trust in God and remember that they should be better than the way they got into the prison at the completion of their jail terms.

The cleric and educationist also called on parents and other agents of socialization, including voluntary organizations, to embark on programmes that will divert attention from crimes and sinful acts, and drive the youth and the elderly ones towards nation building.

While urging the Federal Government to give better treatments to the inmates, he advised the management of the prison to make recreational facilities and vocational training centres available to the inmates.

The Principal Inspector of the Prison, Ayinde Badejo who received food items and other souvenirs on behalf of the inmates, thanked the cleric and his members, and used the occasion to call on well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the inmates by donating various vocational training materials to train them.
