APC Sweeps Kano Council Polls

All seats in the Saturday’s local government election held in Kano State were won by candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, Chairman, Dr Sani Malumfashi, announced on Sunday in Kano.

He said in a statement that the party swept all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the polls.

Malumfashi disclosed that, “the election has been largely successful and peaceful and APC won all the 44 local government chairmanship and the 484 councillorship posts in the state as officially declared by returning officers at the various levels.”

The election was contested by 19 parties, but the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were the main contenders.

The KANSIEC boss thanked the state government, politicians, voters as well as residents for the support given to the Commission before and during the polls.
