Wanted Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche, one of the masterminds of the Nyanya bus station twin blasts in Abuja, has been arrested by the International Police, Interpol. Ogwuche was apprehended in Sudan, where he was reportedly hiding.

Marylyn Ogar, spokesperson of the State Security Service, SSS, at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, announced that a N25-million-bounty has been placed on Ogwuche and Rufai Abubakar Tsiga, both accused of masterminding the two blasts at the nation’s capital, which claimed over 90 lives and injured several others.

Director General of National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mike Omeri, at the daily briefing of the National Information Centre on Wednesday, announced that Ogwuche has been arrested in Sudan and is awaiting extradition to Nigeria to face terrorism charges.

Omeri disclosed that Ogwuche’s arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Interpol, DSS, Nigeria Police and the Military Attaché to the Nigerian High Commission in Sudan.

Ogwuche is a British born Nigerian student of Arabic Language at the International University of Africa, Sudan. He was in the Nigerian Army before leaving the Force in 2006. His service number was SVC 95/104.

In November 2011, according to Ogar on Tuesday, the suspect was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on arrival from the UK. He was said to have been involved in terrorism, but was released on bail to his father, retired Col Agene Ogwuche on October 15, 2012, after pressure from activists that his human rights were violated by the Nigerian government.
