Jonathan Zooms To Congo Over Security Matters

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has left the shores of the country for the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, to discuss security challenges facing countries in the West and Central African regions. Jonathan left Nigeria on Monday afternoon to meet with his Congolese counterpart, President Denis Nguesso.

Both leaders will deliberate on how to tackle the loopholes in the security systems in the regions. The Nigerian leader is expected to return to the country on Tuesday, Jonathan’s media aide, Reuben Abati revealed on Monday.

President Jonathan’s visit to Congo is coming ahead of a meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council which begins in Congo on Wednesday.

The West and Central African regions have been plagued with security issues. In Nigeria, members of the Boko Haram sect have continued to rain terror on citizens of the country, carrying out deadly attacks with the military overpowering them mostly.
