2015: There's No Alternative To Jonathan–Group Tells PDP

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been urged to grant President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to contest the 2015 presidential poll. This call was made on Wednesday in Abuja by the National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency.

The National Coordinator of the group, Benjamin Irikefe, while presenting the body’s request letter to the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP, said, “we want to call on you to convene an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the PDP to make a unanimous decision to grant President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to contest the presidential election come 2015, whenever he declares his intention.”

The group noted that it would be unnecessary, a total waste of time and resources for the PDP to conduct of any presidential primary ahead of the 2015 polls.

Irikefe said there is no alternative to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 because he has proven capacity and track records to prevent Nigeria from chaos, disintegration and monumental ruins.

Responding, the PDP National Secretary, Prof Wale Oladipo, who received the group’s request on behalf of the party’s NWC, promised to deliver the letter to the National and BoT Chairmen, Adamu Mu’azu and Tony Anenih respectively.
