Jonathan Appoints Justice Kutigi As National Confab Chair

Justice Idris Lebo Kutigi has been appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan to head the controversial National Conference.

Justice Kutigi is a former Chief Justice of Nigeria.

His appointment was confirmed on Monday via a press statement released by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim.

The respected lawyer would be assisted by Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, while Dr (Mrs) Valerie Azinge will serve as the Conference’s Secretary.

“His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR), president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the appointment of the leadership of the National Conference,” Anyim said in the statement.

“The appointees are to resume at Abuja on Wednesday, 5th March 2014, and would be received on arrival by the secretary to the government of the federation,” the statement added.
