Senate Confirms Obanikoro, 10 Others As Ministers; Salik Dropped

The Nigerian Senate, on Tuesday, confirmed Senator Musiliu Obanikoro from Lagos State as minister. The former gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, along with 10 others, was given the nod by the lawmakers.

President Goodluck Jonathan had sent his ministerial nominees to the Senate for approval.

Others confirmed by members of the red chamber include Mohammed Wakil (former House leader) from Borno, Ambassdor Aminu Wali from Kano, Mrs Lawrencia Labaran Mallam from Kaduna, General Mohammed Aliyu Gusau (rtd) from Zamfara, Mrs Akon Etim Eyakenyi from Akwa Ibom among others.

However, the nomination of Hajiya Jamila Salik from Kano State was not approval because the presidency has dropped her.

The lucky nominees are yet to be given any portfolio.
