Reports reaching us confirms that major streets in the city of Kano have been taken over by combined team of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police and men of the State Security Service, SSS, ahead of the visit of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The Nigerian troops, looking battle-ready, are seen manning streets in the commercial and ancient city to ensure that the visit of Jonathan is without any hitch. The President is expected to arrive Kano on Saturday.
Jonathan’s visit coincides with the annual Maulud celebration by the Quadriyya sect, which attracts the convergence of its numerous faithfuls.
