The governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has disclosed that the achievements made the various office holders elected under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, will help the party win at the 2015 general elections.
Akpabio, also the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, made this declaration on Thursday when he paid a courtesy visit to the governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo. The Akwa-Ibom State governor also stated that despite the crisis rocking the ruling party; it is still a party to beat.
He described the PDP as the only national party not owned by an individual. He said the PDP is a robust party, which has the capacity to come out of the crises stronger.
“PDP is very robust. It is such a large party. It is a national party and has presence in the 774 Local Government Areas of the country. Nigerians know that PDP is the only national party, it is the only party that is not owned by any individual, and it is the only party that is not owned by any tribal group or godfather.
“So, I can see the PDP doing very well in 2015 as soon as some of the problems are over; these are just internal challenges that the PDP is working on,” Akpabio said.
In his remarks, Dankwambo revealed that he has ensured financial prudence in the monthly N2.3 billion allocation to the state after spending N1.5 billion on salaries. He promised to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of his state.
