Shake-Up Hits Nigerian Army

A shake-up has hit the Nigerian Army. Some top military officers were handed with new appointments, aimed to improve the day to day running of the military. It is one of the routine postings in the Nigerian Army.

A statement released by the Army on Friday in Abuja confirmed this development. It was issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru. The statement disclosed that Maj-Gen Ebiobowei Awala is now the Military Secretary (Army), while Maj-Gen John Kwabe is now the Chief of Logistics, Defence Headquarters.

Maj-Gen Olufemi Adeosun was named the Director of Policy, Defence Headquarters; Maj-Gen Ugo Buzugbe as Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps; Maj-Gen John Nwaoga as the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Maj-Gen Mobolaji Koleoso as Director, Armed Forces Simulation Centre.

Others are Maj-Gen Letam Wiwa, Director, Military Intelligence; Maj-Gen Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence of Information; Maj-Gen Patrick Akem, Director, Legal Service (Army); Maj-Gen Sunday Adebayo, Commander, Nigerian Army Education Corps; Maj-Gen Mohammed Idris, Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy, while Maj-Gen Charley Okoro is now the Director, Peace Keeping Operations, Defence Headquarters.

Also affected are Maj-Gen Obidah Ethan, who is now the Chief of Civil/Military Affairs; Maj-Gen Junaid Bindawa, General Officer Commanding 7 Division; Maj-Gen Modibbo Alkali, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Artillery; Maj-Gen Shehu Yusuf, Commandant, Depot, Nigerian Army; Maj-Gen Ahmed Mohammed, Commander, Nigerian Army Training Centre; and Maj-Gen Iliyasu Abbah, Commander, Joint Task Force (Operation Pulo Shield).

Brig-Gen Arinze Ebenebe, is now the Commandant, Warrant Officers Academy; Brig-Gen Kasimu Abdulkarim is Director of Physical Training; Brig-Gen Enitan Ransome-Kuti is now the Commander, Multi-National Joint Task Force; Brig-Gen Ebenezer Ogundana is Director of Army Reserve Recruitment and Resettlement and Brig-Gen Ibe Nicholas is the Commander, 23 Brigade.

Brig-Gen Ohifeme Ejemai was appointed as the Commander, 9 Brigade; Brig-Gen Bright Fibionumama, Commander 3 Brigade; Brig-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, Commander 13 Brigade; Brig-Gen Mustapha Onoyiveta, Head Nigerian Army Operations Monitoring Team; Brig-Gen Lanre Bello, Commander, 34 Brigade and Brig-Gen Olajide Laleye is the new Director, Army Public Relations.
