Senator Ahmed Yerima has divorced his 17 years old Egyptian wife, Marian, three years after the marriage was consummated, City People magazine reports. The former Governor of Zamfara State was criticised few years ago when he married the teenager, who is believed to be the daughter of his driver.
As the magazine reported, Yerima and four men, believed to be members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, were in Egypt few weeks ago to pick the new wife for the Senator.
The new bride, Fathia, is said to be 15 years old.
Yerima reportedly dumped Marian, who had a child for him, to enable pick a new bride as he is not permitted in Islam to have more than four wives at a time.
The Senator is said not to be new in the habit of divorcing his wives to marry another.
