Reports reaching us indicate that some militants engaged policemen in Lagos on Tuesday morning in a gunfire that lasted hours.
It was learnt that the militants stormed the sleepy town of Igando in Lagos and started looting shops, robbing residents as well.
Policemen were quickly drafted to the area, which is a suburb of Lagos to bring the situation under control, but the hoodlums involved them in a gun battle.
Residents of the town reportedly fled to safety.
The affected areas were Ikejobi Avenue, Ewedogbon and their environs.
Three policemen were said to have sustained injuries during the gun duel.
