Metuh Returns To Prison

Shortly after the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, was granted bail in the sum of N400 million on Tuesday, he was driven back to Kuje Prison in the evening in a prison vehicle with registration number PS 682 AA and with inscription, Kuje Prison, FCT Command, Abuja.

His bail application was granted on Tuesday by Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja after being in EFCC custody and Kuje Prison for some days.

Metuh is expected to be released on meeting his bail conditions, including providing two sureties.

According to the conditions spelt out by Justice Abang, the two sureties must own properties in Maitama, Abuja and must produce the certificates of occupancy of the properties which must be verified by the Chief Registrar of the court and confirmed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Metuh must also submit his travelling documents with the court pending the period of his trial.

The PDP’s mouthpiece is standing trial for alleged fraud. He was accused by the EFCC of receiving N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014, which was meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram in the north east.
