Senator Iyiola Omisore has emerged the flagbearer of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2014 governorship election in Osun State.
In a primary organised by the ‘umbrella party’ on Saturday in Osun State, Omisore defeated others who indicated interest in flying the party’s colour at the poll, which holds in August.
Omisore won with 1,128 votes to pick the PDP’s sole ticket to slug it out with candidates of the other parties taking part in the election, which includes the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The PDP candidate was a former governor of Osun State. He later won election into the Senate while in the prison.
