Voting Ends In Imo, Polls Marred By Violence

The supplementary election in Imo State on Saturday, April 25, 2015, was not without pockets of violence and irregularities in some areas of the state where elections were held.

Also, the governorship poll was marred by low turnout of voters as many eligible voters stayed indoors during the exercise.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial election in the state “inconclusive” following electoral malpractices in some polling booths.

As at the time of filing in this report, counting of votes has started in some polling units, while results have already been declared in few areas.

Election took place in some polling units in 23 local government areas of Imo State.
