FG Orders Registrar To Reopen OAU

The Registrar of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State, David Awoyemi, has been directed to announce the reopening of the institution as soon as possible.

The school has been under lock and key due to appointment of a new Vice Chancellor, which some members of staff of the university kicked against.

According to reports, both administrative and academic activities may resume at OAU this week because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention.

It was learnt that the President has asked the university’s members of the Senate to recommend one of them, who is capable of running the institution as a Vice-Chancellor in acting capacity, for Federal Government’s approval.

In a letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, through the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, the President directed the Senate not to consider any of the candidates who earlier contested for the position.
