Protesters Shut Down Benin Electric

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, in Edo State has been closed down by angry demonstrators.

The protesters, under the aegis of Network of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria, NOCSON, blocked the entrance of the company.

They have prevented workers of the BEDC from entering their offices since Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

It was gathered that the demonstrators have asked for a reduction in the electricity tariffs charged by the Benin Electric.

Also, the protesters said they want an improvement in the supply of electricity to their homes and offices by the company.
