Okada Riders, Thugs, Police Clash In Lagos

There was the disruption of peace in Lekki area of Lagos State on Friday morning when some commercial motorcyclists, hoodlums and policemen tested their strengths.

The clash, Aproko247 gathered, was as a result of the ban of motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, within the Lekki Phase 1 estate.

Eyewitnesses claimed some suspected thugs from the Eti Osa local government seized motorcycles at the estate gate. Some of the hoodlums allegedly beat up a motorcyclist who failed to surrender his vehicle, which angered other okada riders.

The thugs allegedly used various dangerous weapons like machetes, during the clash and inflicted injuries on their victims.

The police also reportedly fired gunshots sporadically during the fight. Some properties were reportedly destroyed.

Meanwhile, peace has since been restored in the area and normal activities resumed.
