US-based Nigerian Singer, Chris Akinyemi, Drops ‘Culture’

A Nigerian artiste based in the United States of America, Chris Akinyemi, has followed up his collaboration with Niniola on Ja’Soro with a banging new song entitled Culture.

In this new catchy tune, Chris Akinyemi again teamed up with kindred spirit, Mr Labz, and is bound to get lovers of Afrobeat music dancing.

The song was released by Temple Music on Monday, February 26, 2018 for download on local and international digital stores.

Born in Newark New Jersey, Olakitan Christopher Akinyemi developed his musical abilities by self-teaching himself how to play the guitar and piano. Teaming up with producer “Mr Lab” (Missy Elliot, Elle Varner, Monica, Souldiggaz…) and recording well-thought out but personal songs, Chris has quickly become a hit sensation.

Chris has been featured on mtvU the Freshmen, MTV, BET and Vh1. He has also been highly regarded and reviewed on countless media outlets including BET, mtvU, and MTViggy.

Chris moved to Lagos after birth with his mother and there he was inspired by the sweet indigenous sounds coming from the likes of 2Baba, Ebenezer Obey, and Awilo Logomba. At the age of six he started his musical enlightenment playing the snare drum for his elementary school’s marching band.

Influenced by African popular music, R&B and Hip-Hop, he attracts audiences with the visual storytelling, captivating melodies and charismatic persona, which embody his music.

He has been fortunate enough to perform for the Ooni of Ile Ife and alongside acts like Fally Ipupa, Nneka, Ice Cube, Fabolous, Olu Maintain and Theophilus London, just to name a few.
