Miss Africa Great Britain Visits Aregbesola

Miss Africa Great Britain 2016/17, Sarah Jegede, visited Nigeria with her organisation to carry out a charity project in the State of Osun, her home state. Every year, the reigning queen of Miss Africa Great Britain is required to travel to her home country to execute her charity mandate.

On Thursday, May 25, Sarah paid a courtesy call on the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

Also present were Miss Africa Director, Dele Onabowu, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori; Miss Adeline Sotinwa-Ike and 3-time commissioner, Doyin Ogunbiyi.

Sarah’s mission in Nigeria was to visit the students of St Mary’s Catholic School, Ilesa whom she had fundraised for in the UK. On Wednesday, the 24th of May, she met the students and donated stationery and school bags to the 200 elementary students of this school.

Miss Africa Great Britain is open to all African girls between the ages of 17 and 34, residing in the United Kingdom. It was founded with the sole purpose of giving young African girls born or living in the UK a platform to showcase their culture, talent and creativity.

It is highly competitive and seeks to bring out the leadership qualities in women. The winner becomes a goodwill ambassador, charged with designing and implementing a pageant program based on the pageant platform.
