Not less than 250 former members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, JTF, have been enlisted into the Nigerian Army.
It was learnt that the new recruits joined the Army to boost the fight against terrorism in the north eastern part of Nigeria, especially in Borno State.
On Friday, the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, explained that he has been liaising with the Ministry of Interior to ensure that no single volunteer will be left out as long as they have sacrificed their life defending the State and the nation.
Members of the Civilian JTF volunteers have played a pivotal role in maintaining the safety of residents living under the control of Boko Haram terrorists, particularly in instances when there were no police or military in the area.
During the process, many of them have lost their lives during the course of Boko Haram’s domination over Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States.
The leader of the new recruits to the army, Solomon Benjamin, thanked Shettima for his sacrifices and contributions to the Civilian JTF and promised to be a good ambassador of the state.
