Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye Wins Wise Women Award

Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye

Celebrated Nigerian activist, Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye, was on Saturday, June 25, 2016, given the 2016 Christian Woman in Media Award at the Wise Women Awards held in Lagos.

Esther, who is known for her War Against Rápe, WAR, campaign, was rewarded for touching lives through her work in media for her platform ‘Women of Rubies’, which runs as a weekend publication in the Guardian Newspaper and her blog www.womenofrubies.com.

While making the presentation at the ceremony, which was attended by many bigwigs in the society, Pastor Marjorie Esomowei, the founder of Wisdom for Women International, said, “We send our warmest congratulations to Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye on today’s award. She has indeed touched the lives of many people with the many nominations we got in her favour.”

She added that, “We, the Wisdom for Women International, feel encouraged in our work to celebrate prominent and virtuous women for their pioneering ideas and works in touching lives. Her platform, Women of Rubies, is one of its kind and a trailblazer – it is an outstanding platform not only for ‘Christian Women’, but other religions in the areas of encouraging and empowering women.”

In her remarked, the charming mother and wife said, “I dedicate this award out there doing so much to make change happen but not getting the recognition they deserve, women who go all out to bless the society with their kindness; selfless women who dare to be different. Above all I dedicate this to God for the vision to keep changing lives.”

Esther said further that “this award is a challenge for me to do even more. Thanks to every woman who have shared their story with us at Women of Rubies. May God honour you”.

Also receiving the award were two women whose story were brought to the fore via the ‘Women of Rubies’ platform; Chinyere Anokwuru and Kathlyn Eyitemi.
