Argentina, on Sunday, lost again on penalties to Chile, dipping them deeper in their trophy drought in last three major finals; two Copa finals and the 2014 FIFA World Cup loss to Germany in Brazil.
Both last year’s finalists played a goalless draw after 120 minutes and went into a shootout to decide who lifts the trophy.
However, Chile came out victories from the spot kicks, leaving the team captained by Lionel Messi to wait further to win a major tournament for Argentina.
The one-off Copa America Centenario hosted by the USA, was meant to be Messi’s way of shuting the mouths of his critics, especially Diego Maradona, who feels the world best footballer is still not the greatest football player on earth.
Argentina lost the match to Chile on penalty kicks 4-2 and Messi and his teammates could not hide their frustration at the loss.
