PDP Govs Meet In Delta To Plot APC Downfall In Edo

Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South South region of Nigeria converged in Delta State on Sunday to strategise on how to claim back Edo State, which was lost to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2008.

The governors held a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba and had five of them in attendance, including the host, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Those at the meeting were Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Prof Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing newsmen after the talks, Okowa said the essence of the meeting was to enable them put their house in order ahead of the convention.

The governors also warned party faithful against any form of violence during the party’s national convention slated for May 21, 2016, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

It was reliably gathered that the governors promised to back candidate of the party in the September 2016 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
