Come September 2016, Benue State will clock 40 and activities have been lined up to celebrate this in a special way.
Benue State was created in 1976 during the military regime of late General Murtala Mohammed and the middle belt state has continued to grow from strength to strength.
Today, the state remains one of the best economically viable states in Nigeria. No wonder it is called the ‘Food Basked of the Nation.’
As part of events marking Benue at 40, the state’s ministry of Culture and Tourism in conjunction with Ontrade Solid Concept Limited are organizing a cultural social tourism anniversary.
Ontrade Solid Concept Limited was given an approval and endorsement to organize the celebration of Benue Hero 2016 as part of the 40 year celebration of the state.
In a chat with newsmen recently, the principal consultant of Ontrade Solid Concept Limited, Sanny Ogenyi, highlighted the various programmes lined up for the 40 years anniversary.
He said the wife of the state governor, Her Excellency, Mrs Ortom, will be the face of Benue Hero, while some other notable Benue indigenes who have done exceedingly well in their areas of specialization will also be honoured.
Explaining further, Ogenyi said the celebration will begin with a world press conference coming up on the May 27, 2016, and nominations for Benue Hero Awards.
On September 1, 2016, a business conference and launching of Benue State art gallery will hold.
He explained that September 2 will be for the Benue Day, which will involve various ethnic groups.
