Terrorist Hijacks Egyptian Plane

An airplane belonging to the Egyptian Air has been seized mid-air by a man suspected to be a terrorist. It was said that the passenger has a suicide explosive on him.

Multiple reports say about 60 persons are on board the plane.

According to media reports, the Airbus A320 was forced to land at Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus while flying from Alexandria to Cairo on Tuesday.

“Our flight MS181 is officially hijacked. We’ll publish an official statement now,” the airline confirmed via its Twitter account, @egyptair.

A statement from the Egyptian aviation authority disclosed the plane was carrying 55 passengers and five crew members.

According to Reuters, one man was thought to be armed, but a Cypriot official informed the Associated Press that the hijacker requested police move away from the aircraft.
