The two-year-old boy from Akwa Ibom State labelled a witch and abandoned by his family to die, but rescued by a Danish social worker has been discharged from the hospital.
The internet went into frenzy some weeks ago when pictures of the frail boy hit the internet.
He was found by a Danish woman named Anja Ringgren Loven, who took him into custody.
But the latest report has it that the abandoned, but rescued boy, who was named Hope by Anja, has left hospital and is now looking well fed.
He is now with other kids rescued from the streets in similar situation.
Akwa Ibom is a state in Nigeria where children labelled witches are abandoned on the street and left to die of starvation. In some cases, they are taken to spiritualists, who sometimes charge their parents as high as N300,000 for deliverance.
In cases where they don’t take them to spiritualists, these children are maltreated or tortured by their parents and relatives, sometimes leaving them with deformities.
