Fortune has smiled on the young and brilliant car designer from Sokoto State, Bashir Aliyu. This is because the state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Tuesday awarded him a scholarship to study automotive design in the United States of America.
Aliyu became a social media sensation when his designed car driven to school got the attention of Nigerians.
Tambuwal, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, directed the Ministry for Higher Education and the state Scholarship Board to work out the process that will lead to his admission to any college to further his studies in the US.
The governor, who received Aliyu in his office, noted that his administration “will continue to support exceptional students to further their education in order achieve” their objectives.
He further said, “Having produced world-class car designer in the person of Jelani Aliyu, Sokoto is blessed with brilliant indigenes whose talents would be tapped and nurtured for the progress and development of the state.
“Our choice of United State is obvious. Jelani Aliyu is based there and we expect him to be a mentor to you to achieve your objectives in life.”
Commissioner for Science and Technology in the state, Malam Nasir Zarummai, in his remarks said the decision to assist the beneficiary is in line with the present administration’s resolve to assist young people fulfil their potentials.
