A well-known sport presenter in Nigeria, Felix Okugbe is dead, according to reports reaching our news room.
Felix, the CEO of Mudial Sport International, MSI, was said to have given up the ghost after battling a spinal cord-related problem.
A colleague and friend of the late journalist, Godwin Enakhena, posted on his Facebook an SMS Felix sent to him (Godwin) on his (Felix) way to the airport for a treatment abroad.
“My dear brother, thanks for raising awareness about my predicament on your shows and for your unending support. This is to let you know that as you read this I am on my way to the airport for my spinal cord surgery abroad. Please, pray for me,” the message reads.
Godwin said that was his last contact with the deceased, who passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015. He however did not disclose when the message was sent to him.
Felix presented a sport show on Africa Independent Television, AIT, during his lifetime and was also well-travelled. He attended various sporting events outside the country, including the FIFA World Cups.
Before now, Felix was reportedly the Head of Sport, Daar Communications and Ray Power.
