Akpabio Humiliated At London Hotel As Credit Card Declines (PHOTOS)

It was an embarrassing moment for the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibim State, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday when his credit card reportedly declined while trying to check into a hotel in London.

Sahara Reporters claimed that Akpabio, who is presently a Senator in Nigeria, could not believe that his card was declined at a luxury hotel in London, Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

He was reported to have lambasted a staff of his bank in Nigeria over the phone for the embarrassment.

Akpabio travelled to London for treatment after he was involved in an auto accident in Abuja and has not yet returned.

Some days ago, DSS officials stormed the Akwa Ibom Government House in Uyo, where stockpile of the US Dollars were allegedly found in one of the rooms. It was also alleged that weapons were found there too, but the DSS has refuted that.

When contacted on the card decline matter, Akpabio confirmed to Sahara Reporters that his card was declined because it had reached its daily spending limit. He also reportedly claimed that he had used the same card to check out of the Four Seasons luxury hotel earlier on Wednesday.

However, speaking on the world class hospital he commissioned in Uyo in May 2015, the former governor told the online journal that he never neglected to equip it as speculated in some quarters. He also denied renting the equipment shown to the media during the unveiling of the hospital. Akpabio reportedly said the delay in opening the hospital was due to Immigration processing relating to the doctors to be brought to work there.
