Marilyn Ogar, the immediate past spokesperson of the Department of State Security, DSS, has been asked to proceed on a compulsory retirement, reports say.

It was reported that the controversial DSS top shot was given the directive in a letter dated Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

Ogar was promoted in early 2015 by former president Goodluck Jonathan, which was reversed few months later by the new director of the agency, Musa Daura, appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after his inauguration on May 29, 2015.

She was recalled from a Federal Government-sponsored scholarship abroad and redeployed to another office.

With this development, Ogar is leaving the agency seven years before her normal retirement date.

Ogar’s stint at DSS as spokesperson was not without controversies. She was accused of being used to politicise the country’s secret police, especially during the 2015 general elections.
