Fowler Resumes As FIRS Boss, Vows Not To Sack Staff

The newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Tunde Fowler, has finally resumed office, though in an acting capacity.

The former Lagos Inland Revenue Service, LIRS, boss was appointed few days ago by President Muhammadu Buhari to take over from Sunday Ogungbesan.

Resuming office at the Abuja headquarters of the agency, Fowler pledged to partner with the relevant stakeholders to boost the country’s tax regime.

Fowler charged staff of FIRS to brace up for the challenges ahead and urged their support in carrying out his duties.

He further assured them of retaining the present structure and promised not to “lay-off management staff from their duty posts, but to take FIRS as well as the nation’s tax system to an enviable height.”
