Fuel Scarcity To End Next Week

This piece of news will excite many Nigerians who have been subjected to untold hardship by the lingering shortage in the supply of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, commonly called petrol.

On Friday, after a meeting in Abuja between the Federal Government and major oil marketers in the country, it was agreed that an end will come to scarcity of the products from next week.

Two weeks after the marketers called off its strike, queues were yet to disappear from many filling stations across major cities in the country.

At the end of the meeting, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Taiye Haruna, who read the resolution, said that it was “agreed that efforts be made to clear these long queues before the end of June 13, 2015, that is next week.”

The Federal Government was represented at the meeting by top officials from the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR; Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPRA; Petroleum Equalisation Fund, PEF; Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, PPMC; Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC; and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources represented the FG, while the marketers were represented by Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, and Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria.
