Nigeria has been congratulated by Brand South Africa on the appointment of Dr Akinwumi Adesina as President of the African Development Bank, AfDB.
Chief Executive Officer of Brand South Africa, Ms Alice Puoane, in a statement she personally signed, noted that Adesina’s appointment is for the African continent, which recently adopted the Agenda 2063, a strategic framework underpinned by the African Union’s vision for Africa to regain its power, driven and managed by its own citizens, thus representing a dynamic and united force in the international arena.
It was stated that the AfDB is fortunate to have the former Nigeria’s Minister for Agriculture as its president, noting that his leadership will surely bring about socio-economic development to Africa.
The AfDB has played an important role in past decades to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that contribute to the socio-economic development of the region; all of which are key development issues aligned with Agenda 2063.
On behalf of Brand South Africa, Puoane wished Adesina success in his new responsibility.
Brand South Africa was established in August 2002 to help create a positive and compelling brand image for South Africa.
